So you got wireless internet connection and want to access your wireless router? may be to configure port forwarding or providing your IP camera a fixed address? Accessing router is very important to see all important details regarding your home internet network. In order to access your router, you need it's IP address, generally it's something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1. You can avoid guess work if you are familiar with ipconfig command. This command shows important details about your internet connection. Here is a way to find IP address of your router :
2) Type ipconfig, it will show following command as output
C:\>ipconfig
Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection 6:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.23.1
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.23.121
3) Default gateway is IP address of your wireless router, which is 192.168.23.121 here
Just copy past or type this IP address in your browser e.g. Mozilla, Chrome or Internet explore and it will open web interface of your browser. It's very important to know about router settings, especially if you want to configure IP camera or other networking devices. Most of my friends uses wireless internet network and we have tested this method to locate there router. By accessing router you can see following information :
1) All devices connected to your router e.g. Computer, IP Camera , IPAD, IPhone etc.
2) Dynamic IP address assigned to every device by your router and Internet Service provider
3) Firewall setting to prevent Incoming and outgoing traffic
These are just some of those information which is available in your router, I would suggest just have a look and try to find yourself.
